Women in Oil and Gas chair and founder recognised by industry leaders
Chevron’s Category Team Leader and Women in Oil and Gas (WIOG) Chair and Founder, Veena Mendez, was recognised at the Chamber of Minerals and Energy (CME) Women in Resources Awards Ceremony, taking home the Women in Resources Champion award.
The award win comes after five years of hard work and dedication growing the Women in Oil and Gas organisation and championing for change.
“I am honoured and deeply humbled to be named CME’s Woman in Resources Champion,” Ms Mendez said.
“The significance of this year’s Women in Resources Awards, clearly shows the resources industry as a whole has shifted its thinking in championing for diversity and celebrating exceptional women across all resource sectors.
“My sincere thanks go to those who have supported and encouraged me along my journey.
“I founded WIOG almost five years ago to promote diversity, and the career advancement of women in the oil and gas industry, and in that time I have seen WIOG grow from strength to strength through our WIOG mentoring program and also the School Outreach initiatives on STEAM.
“This award is great recognition for all the great things my team and I at WIOG have achieved.”
Ms Mendez has had an extensive career in the resources industry and has spent almost seven years at Chevron in various positions.
The CME Women in Resources awards were established in 2010 to recognise exceptional individuals and organisations in the resources sector.
